The campus of Carnegie Mellon University was designed by Henry Hornbostel- his lavish Beaux Arts architecture gives the university a setting worthy of ivy league status, even though it started as a vocational or technical institution, Carnegie Tech. Andrew Carnegie built free libraries with concert halls throughout the county, and of course Carnegie Hall in New York City. Hornbostel and Carnegie’s combined legacies set the conversation today between Riccardo and Paula, focusing on the concert halls in the Pittsburgh area.
